Hundreds Continue Search for Missing Toddler in Tennessee
Hundreds of volunteers in western Tennessee are searching for a 2-year-old boy who vanished fewer than 48 hours ago.
Noah Israel Chamberlin wandered away from his grandmother around 1:20 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say the boy was walking with his grandmother and 4-year-old sister in the woods near his grandparents' house when he walked out of sight,The Jackson Sunreports.
"They sat down to talk and she was paying attention to the granddaughter, and when she turned around he was gone," said Tom Mapes, spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Nearly a thousand volunteers and law enforcement members have searched a 600-acre area in the small community of Pinson, and the Chester County sheriff recently called for more volunteers. Authorities have asked residents within "a 5-6 mile radius of the 1800 block of Short Road in Pinson" to look in their cars, barns, sheds and "anywhere a child could hide."
Noah wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans at the time of his disappearance. He's approximately 2 feet tall, with blond hair and blue eyes, and weighs about 25 pounds.
